Letter: Chris Stevenson, Purcellville

Editor: By consistently and irresponsibly preying on our fears, our prejudices, our frustrations and impetuousness, our want, the dark side of our historical recollection, our wariness of the “other,” as well as destroying cherished and necessary institutions such as a free press, compromise, humility, the sacredness of high office, and true patriotism, the president now owns the political and cultural chaos that has erupted and which threatens to undo us. Shame, shame, shame on him.

There is still time to save the beloved American experiment and salvation is in the hands of Republicans. We can start here: I call on Loudoun County Republican Committee Chair Sharon Sadler to issue a forceful statement denouncing the demagogue, and officially withdraw all support for his re-election, and thereby stir in us all those mystic chords of memory that bind and do not fracture. This could have an electrifying effect to reverse the disease ravaging our political souls.
