Indy Eleven goalkeeper Evan Newton recorded seven saves while handing Loudoun United FC its second consecutive shutout loss Saturday night in Indianapolis.
The teams battled in scoreless play until late in the match when Indy scored goals at the 83-minute mark and then again in extra time.
The season’s second win over Loudoun moved Indy (11-3-4) into third place in the USL Championship’s Eastern Division. Loudoun (4-8-4) fell one spot to 14th place.
Loudoun next plays a rematch against Louisville City (8-6-6) at Audi Field in Washington, DC on Sunday, July 28. Louisville won the first meeting 2-1 on June 8.
That will be Loudoun United’s last “home” game at Audi Field. The team will play its first game at the newly constructed Segra Field near Leesburg on Aug. 9.
