Downtown Leesburg is losing a sweet spot, as the purveyors behind the popular B Doughnut shop have announced they will close at month’s end.
B Doughnut’s Loudoun Street shop opened to fanfare in December 2016, after for years finding a following with its local delivery service. Ashburn couple Brian and Pin Chanthapanya opened their first B Doughnut shop in Baltimore in October 2015, and have since also hosted pop-up shops, including at One Loudoun.
An announcement on B Doughnut’s Instagram page this morning noted that the shop’s last day in Leesburg will be Aug. 25. It will be transitioning back to a doughnut delivery business model.
“This has been our long term goal which is the reasoning behind our rapid pop-up expansion these past few years,” the statement read.
The announcement noted that the company will also host some pop-ups throughout the area, with dates and locations to be determined. Delivery service will begin in Loudoun in September, with Fairfax County orders beginning the following month. Other counties and cities, including the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, area, will be added.
In its almost three-year run in downtown Leesburg, the doughnut shop drew its share of long lines and quick sell-outs for its popular malasadas and delectable doughnuts. It also for a time shared its space in the afternoons and evenings with Churrology, which also closed its brick and mortar business to focus on pop-up locations.
