Three pitchers for the Loudoun South American All-Stars combined for a 3-0 no-hitter in Friday morning’s Little League World Series game against New England champion Barrington, RI.
While Barrington was held to three baserunners who advanced on walks, Loudoun racked up nine hits. The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when Brandy Yates smacked a two-run homer 275 feet over the right centerfield fence with Matt Coleman on base. Justin Lee added the final run, scoring from second base on a Liam Thyen grounder.
On the mound, Thyen recorded three strikeouts in 2 and 2/3 innings of work. Starting pitcher Lee pitched two strikeouts and allowed two walks. Chase Obstgarten closed out the games recording one strike out, one walk and the final two outs.
Loudoun next is scheduled to play Sunday, against the winner of the Midwest-Great Lakes game later today.
