Kyle Murphy got Loudoun United off to a quick start Saturday night, but the team was unable to hold off Memphis 901 FC before a crowd of 1,200 at Segra Field near Leesburg.
Murphy scored his eighth goal of the season at the five-minute mark and Loudoun held the lead through the first half. The equalizer came quickly in the second have with an own goal by Loudoun defender Harri Hawkins. Memphis’ Brandon Allen recorded the game winning goal at the 81stminute. In goal, Loudoun keeperEarl Edwardsrecorded four saves.
Loudoun next plays Wednesday in Chester, PA, versus Bethelham Steel. With a record of 6-14-6, Loudoun is in 15thplace in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference.
