The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office and the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System will hold a full-scale, emergency drill from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 in and around Patrick Henry College in Purcellville.
The drill will practice emergency response to an active threat on the campus to assess local public safety agencies’ readiness in the event of a major incident. According to a town statement, there will be significant law enforcement, fire and emergency service present during the drill. The public is notified of the drill beforehand via variable message boards placed along roads in town, social media, Nextdoor and Alert Loudoun messages to avoid widespread panic.
Also participating in the drill will be the Purcellville Police Department, the Leesburg Police Department, the Virginia State Police, Inova Loudoun Hospital Cornwall and Lansdowne, the Stone Springs Hospital Center, the Air Care Helicopter Medevac service and the county’s Fire Marshal’s Office, Emergency Management Office, Parks and Recreation Department.
