Editor: As an active member in the Loudoun community, I have a keen interest in the Chairman of the Board of Supervisor race. After watching the debate last week, I am certain John Whitbeck is the right person to lead Loudoun County for the next four years.

I have known John for a long time and I have personally seen him be an active member of the Loudoun community. He has lived in Loudoun for 20 years and he understands the challenges our county faces. I am confident that he has real solutions and a drive to make those a reality.

Traffic in Loudoun has gotten so much worse over time and I know this is largely due to over development, poor planning, and a bad deal with the Greenway. These all add to the horrible congestion and longer and longer commutes.

John has a real vision for Loudoun County that preserves open space and addresses traffic problems. He has an ‘infrastructure first’ policy that will help prevent new traffic issues by being proactive instead of reactive. He’ll work to improve the flow of traffic on Rt. 7 and Rt. 50 and will actually fight for lower tolls. As a resident of the Dulles district, reducing traffic is very important to me.

John also talked about plans to improve school safety by expanding the school resource officer program. I think this is a great idea to help keep all of our kids safe while at school. As a parent, this issue is of great importance to me, and so many others.

John Whitbeck is someone I trust. Personally and politically. I trust him with my family, and with the community. When he says he’ll make schools safer, preserve open space, and fight for Loudoun commuters, I know I can count on him. That’s why I’m voting for John Whitbeck on November 5, and I hope you will too.
