Following the death of his father, Grandmaster Eung Gil Choi sponsored a Tae Kwon Do tournament to raise money to help cancer patients. That effort grew into an annual event now in its 27thyear.

On Saturday, members ofKong’s Taekwondo demonstration team—one ofnation’s top teams, which earned a silver medal in the2019World Taekwondo President’s Cup-Pan America Regionlast weekend—joined the effort. Their fast-paced, high-flying performance wowed a crowd at the Douglass Community Center that included students from areaTae Kwon Do schools who also tested their skills against the area’s best competitors.

Over the years, the event has raised more than $125,000 to support cancer patients. Blue Ridge Hospice is the main beneficiary of the Kick Cancer Out of the World event.
