Loudoun Fencer Michaela Joyce Tops U.S. U17 Rankings

Loudoun’s teen fencing phenom Michaela Joyce now tops U.S. rankings for the women’s under-17 epée event.

Michaela brought home gold in the Women’s Cadet (under 17) Epée event at the November North American Cup in Milwaukee, WI, last weekend.

Michaela, her parents and her coach Ilya Lobanenkov head to Grenoble, France this week for an International Fencing Federation world cup tournament. Michaela, who lives in Sterling with her family and trains with Lobanenkov at Cardinal Fencing Academy in Sterling, is a leading contender to represent the U.S. at the Cadet and Junior World Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah this spring.
