Two Injured, One Critically, After Tree Falls On Car in Purcellville

The Purcellville community is rallying to support a family whose members were severely injured in a freak accident Friday night.

According to the report, the accident happened at approximately 7 p.m. Nov. 22 when a tree fell on top of a SUV that was traveling northbound on Purcellville Road near Mayfair Crown Drive. Two of the three occupants in the vehicle—a father and his 12-year-old daughter—were airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.

After the crash, Mayfair resident Anika Hansford launched a GoFundMe page to help raise money for the family to cover expenses, especially for the expensive medivac services. As of midday on Monday, almost $6,000 had been contributed.

According to a posting shared on that site Sunday, the father was expected to be released from the hospital Monday, but the girl remains under critical care treatment.
