Update: Two Postal Service Employees Involved in Lovettsville Shooting

The Loudoun Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place outside the Lovettsville Post Office shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General has confirmed that a special agent from that office was involved in the shooting and that the victim was a Postal Service employee. The Postal Service employee was transported to an area hospital. 

Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kraig Troxell said the site was secure and that there was no threat to the public.

The Sheriff’s Office has been requested to conduct the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting in coordination with the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
