Pence Joins Calls for School Board Resignations in Loudoun Visit

Former Vice President Mike Pence called on members of the Loudoun County School Board to resign and for parents to push back against liberal agendas in school during an event at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville yesterday.

The event, promoting educational freedom, drew a crowd of several hundred, also featured addresses from former teacher Monica Gill, who is involved in the high-profile lawsuit against the school district over its transgender student protections.

“The eyes of the nation are on Loudoun County. It’s amazing to think that that Loudoun has become the epicenter of a powerful movement spreading all across this county,” Pence said. “A movement of concerned parents, patriotic citizens, demanding an end to curriculums that divide our nation and accountability for educational bureaucrats who put political correctness ahead of our kids.”

Loudoun County has become a flashpoint in national politics and a battleground for Tuesday’s gubernatorial election, as groups of parents opposed to anti-racism initiatives, which they’ve dubbed as liberal political indoctrination, have rallied against elected officials. Four School Board members are facing recall efforts, and the Leesburg District’s representative Beth Barts already tendered her resignation.

Criticism has intensified since a student who sexually assaulted a classmate in a school bathroom in May was transferred to another Loudoun County school where he allegedly assaulted a second student. As new details emerge, critics claim the board and Superintendent Scott Ziegler that division leaders stifled information about the assualts, and did little to protect other students. Ziegler has blamed short comings of the Title IX reporting protocols for enabling the repeat offense to occur.

The former vice president joined with those calling for action.

“Let me say that the School Board members and anyone responsible for this coverup should resign immediately,” Pence said. “It angers me to think that those crimes happened because some adults care more about politics than the wellbeing of our kids.”

Pence called on parents to engage in their childrens’ education, and defended parents who’d been targeted in a recent inquiry by the FBI for their conduct during school board meetings. In a letter from the National School Board Association, which has since apologized for its messaging, the FBI was urged to investigate possible domestic terrorism by parents seeking to intimidate elected officias.

“The federal government has no business investigating students who speak out at school board meetings,” Pence said.

Pence pointed to Critical Race Theory, which has become the synonymous with anti-racism social justice teachings, saying that children are learning to be ashamed of their skin color.

Many conservatives insist that CRT is being taught in Loudoun Schools. The district has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on racial equity initiatives. The Equity Report found that systemic racism permeates all layers of the school district; from hiring processes to punitive actions taken against students, race, the report said, plays a role in outcomes.

“We’re taking on the most egregious example of the radical left’s agenda in our public schools. The doctrine known as race theory. Under critical race theory children as young as kindergarten are being taught to be ashamed of their skin color,” Pence said.

While Critical Race Theory is not being taught as a course in schools, teacher trainings include the application of a progressive understanding of race and how it impacts society.

“While Critical Race Theory is not being taught in classes, teacher trainings include the application of a progressive understanding of race and how it impacts society.”

This is a lie. A cute one, but still a lie.

VA Dept of Education memo, dated 2/22/19, to school superintendents, lists the following book as a “resource’ for teachers:
Foundations of Critical Race Theory in Education, by Edward Taylor, David Gillborn, and Gloria Ladson-Billings

Then in 2015, under Mcaulliffe (D), the VA DOE, instructed schools to “embrace critical race theory.” in order to “re-engineer attitudes and belief systems.”

Please stop trying to be cute with the truth. That’s not what journalism is supposed to be. Report the facts.

The Virginia Department of Education, under more than one (D) governors has pushed CRT onto the local school systems. This is clear. And undeniable.

Is this kind of rhetoric over the top? Why are citizens on the school board anyway? Represent your community? Do no harm? Contribute to educational improvement? Use it as a steppingstone for higher office? The last two years has been an abject embarrassment to ALL Loudoun citizens and a huge drain on community resources as the $1.5 billion was spent even though schools were mostly closed. Many of us had pride in our school board and dedicated staff to advance the lives of their children in a positive way but lately the inefficiencies and obvious political bent is hard to watch. Please resign or do your job and stop the partisan BS! 🙂

There was no dastardly rape coverup. The May 28 rape had nothing to do with a liberal agenda or the Trans community. All lies spread by the Stumpin for Youngkin crowd on the backs of Loudoun youth. Mike Pence shoots from the hip. He calls for an entire school board to resign. Does he care that Daniel Hoyler was sworn in two weeks ago & has nothing to do with Pence’s silly conspiracy theories? Go home Mike Pence & leave Loudoun County alone! P.S. — I must say I’m relieved to read an LCPS teacher suing the division has left her job. She really needs a better fit if she’s going to impose her religious beliefs on students.

There was a cover-up. You’re just unwilling to witness it. The documents, video and timeline are indisputable.

The May 28 rape was perpetrated by a boy wearing a skirt. You can get as cute as you’d like with labels and making assumptions on how that monster was “feeling” that day, but reasonable people can and will call that trans sexual assault. Perhaps ZIegler was referring to your bogus talking point, when he called out a “red herring?”

Regarding ANDREW Hoyler. He was installed by the current SB. He wouldn’t be there, if not for them. Hence his need to resign along with the rest of them.

You were gleeful when Booker (D) came to Loudoun from NJ and insinuated that we were all racists. But Mike Pence wants to stand up for our children, and you demand that he stays out?

      Good grief.

Tim – Don’t you just hate when outside former politicians come to Loudoun to tell us how we should vote.

All of these LCSB members deserve to go. ALL not just those I previously did not agree with. It is clear that as a group they either knew about the assault and failed the second victim or didn’t know about the assault but now that they do, they fail to hold Zeigler responsible for the second victim. Hoyler appears to fall unto this second group.

You are asking either for politicians to be honorable or for the electorate to look beyond “My Party good, Other Party bad.” That’s a tall order… but I agree. Every last member of the board should resign, face recall, or be voted out of office… and Superintendent Ziegler needs to go as well, whether willingly or by the force of a School Board vote to remove.

Resign? This disgraceful clown should have resigned after Jan. 6. What a fool….what a totally loser. He should go back to Indiana with “mother” and a truckload of “Depend” and just go away.

Former Vice President Mike Pence and our future president: is he cool or what? The Lord Jesus’s righteous servant – just watch.

If you haven’t already, go to Fight For Schools Facebook, get a cup of coffee, “relax” if you can, and watch the 2-hour unedited NOVANOW.TV video recording of Oct. 26 LCSB meeting comments time by parents.

You won’t get bored but will share with them an evening of inexplicable overweening arrogance of the Board members towards warrior parents allowed to speak only for a minute, then swatted out.

Ian Prior speaks last, followed by the cameraman and Sam the producer taking you outside where parents were forced to wait like Afghanistan refugees at the Kabul airport—but in the cold. As one parent pointed out, speakers were not even allowed to use the bathroom facilities to perhaps protect themselves(? the Board) and yet no protection for our kids at school bathrooms?

Unfortunately, Loudoun school board members have no shame and will not do the honorable duty of resigning. Although they work for US, the taxpayer, they are under the misguided belief that they have to push a radical agenda.

This is an agenda that is destroying our county education program. This is also an agenda that protects and hides high school assaults .

Our kids are NOT SAFE with Ziegler and his clown show in office.

    RESIGN NOW.

I’m sorry, the last thing Loudoun needs is advice from a disgraced lickspittle who tried to overturn an election with a pack of grifters that were squatting in the White House (though they lost the popular vote by millions four years before that!). Shame on you Mike Pence. And don’t come around here spouting divisive nonsense about Critical Race Theory to a bunch of white folks sitting there who’d be even happier if you came out with some straight up racist nonsense instead.

The American Federation of Teacher’s Union’s president, a socialist, Randi Weingarten has been in place for the last 3 decades. She is good friends with the president of the NEA. These are the organizations that have ruined the public schools and are over many public institutions. Randi tweeted in Jan a post telling college and university professors not to hire any Trump Appointees. They have been targeting republicans and our parents are being silenced.
